Begin by painting the back of the bulletin board, excluding the frame, with an even layer of black chalkboard paint. Let it dry and repeat this process twice. Next, center the piece of trim on the front of the chalkboard over the frame to create a chalk holder. Secure it by using small brads or finishing nails. Then, paint two coats of latex paint on the chalk holder and frame, letting it dry between coats. Finally, to attach the ribbon, thread one end of a ribbon length through the hanger on the back of the board and tie it into a knot to secure it. Repeat this step for the second piece of ribbon. Bring the free ends of the ribbon together and tie them into a knot. Hang the chalkboard on the wall as desired.
